There’s a lot of excitement again surrounding Rome’s famous club "Roma". Since Claudio Ranieri’s comeback, the team has been on the rise. The renowned specialist took over as head coach in November 2024 and has turned the "Wolves" from relegation contenders into a team battling for a Champions League spot within a few months.
Ranieri — success without transfers
Despite heavy spending under José Mourinho, the expected results didn’t come. But Ranieri chose to work with the existing squad and correctly guided fighters who battle hard inside the box. As a result, since December 15, the club has remained unbeaten: 11 wins and 4 draws!
What’s expected ahead of the Roma – Lazio derby?
The central match of Serie A’s 32nd round — between Lazio and Roma — will be held on April 13 at the "Olimpico". Although Lazio is listed as the official host, for the Romans, the match holds double significance.
Maurizio Iorio: "With Shomurodov on the field, Roma’s game transforms!"
Former Roma striker and Serie A champion in the 1982/83 season, Maurizio Iorio, shared his thoughts on the team’s attack:
"The goals against Lecce and Juventus came when Artem Dovbyk and Eldor Shomurodov were playing together. It’s working, but starting both in a derby is a big risk. When Eldor enters the pitch, Roma’s game comes to life. He fights for every ball and becomes a pivot in the final third."
Roma’s attacking potential and challenges
Maurizio Iorio also highlighted Dovbyk’s physical preparedness:
"The stats prove his quality, but Artem must lead the attack like Lukaku used to. That’s what Ranieri demands. At the moment, he waits for the ball inside the box, and without Dybala, he gets few passes. Sule and Pellegrini must show more initiative, but even they aren’t delivering enough in big games."
Roma must keep going!
"This derby isn’t just about three points — it’s the key to qualifying for the Champions League. Matches against tough teams like Bologna still lie ahead. If we want Europe — we must win on April 13!"
