The head coach of the Kazakhstan national team, Ali Aliyev, announced his resignation following a heavy 0-6 defeat to Belgium in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This was reported by sports.kz.
At the press conference, the coach began his speech with an open statement:
"I am responsible for everything that happened on the field. There are no grounds to blame the players. It's all the result of my mistakes. Therefore, I will write a resignation letter and submit it to the president of the federation immediately after returning to our country," Aliyev said.
It should be noted that the Kazakhstan national team scored only 3 points in the first five qualifying matches. Aliyev's team, in addition to Belgium, suffered two defeats against Wales (1:3, 0:1) and North Macedonia (0:1). They only managed to secure a 2-0 victory against Liechtenstein, the group's main outsider.
Thus, the Kazakhstan national team cannot rise from the bottom of the tournament table. Aliyev, taking personal responsibility for the results, decided to resign without delay.
This event is a major concern for the country's football community, and now the federation faces the task of appointing a new coach who will restore the team.
