Former National Team head coach Mirjalol Qosimov expressed his opinion on the hotly debated issue of Fabio Cannavaro. He emphasized that officials may have taken into account all factors in the decision-making process, so one should not rush to conclusions in advance. Kasimov recalled the folk saying "you can't play the drum before a wedding," and suggested that the final grade should be given after a major competition.
He also emphasized the importance of continuity and internal stability in preparation. According to media reports, Timur Kapadze is expected to remain on the coaching staff. Kasimov assessed this as a positive step, noting that Kapadze's experience working with the team and his role in preserving the foundation laid in the past cycle will bring great benefits. Since the official confirmation has not yet been announced, it was also noted that some claims and policies are at the stage of discussion.
There are also many conflicting opinions in the public. Some hope that Cannavaro's personal reputation, his deep understanding of big football, and his views on defensive theory will give a new impetus to the national team. Others talk about the lack of stability in coaching, reminding us of the consequences of short-term projects. Kasimov believes that the most correct way at this time is to observe the development of events, objectively assess the work process, and draw conclusions based on the results.
He noted that the selection of officials "doesn't appear by itself," and it's natural for the candidate to be thoroughly studied. It is noted that earlier there were reports that the names of other famous specialists were also mentioned, which means that the search was carried out on a large scale. Nevertheless, according to Kasimov, there is no reason to draw a sharp conclusion about any plan until it finds its expression in practice.
The coach also highlighted another important aspect - the psychology of the team and the preservation of the internal environment. According to him, in the preparation for major competitions, along with tactics and schemes, the strengthening of trust, unity, and responsibility in the team is of decisive importance. Discipline, a clear distribution of tasks, an approach that corresponds to the players' natural strengths, and goals that can be measured through training and games are the foundation of stable results.
According to Kasimov, the training camps and control matches in the coming months will serve as a mirror to the team's new image. At these stages, such details as standard positions, ball rotation under pressure, resistance to high pressure from the opposing team, fast rotation, and last-minute mode are tested. It is these "small" points that create the "large" difference on the big stage.
In conclusion, Mirjalol Kasimov called on everyone to be patient, support the coaching staff, and maintain a unified atmosphere around the team. In his opinion, if the group stage is successfully completed and there is growth in the content of the game, it becomes clear that the chosen path is correct. And the result is always the most reliable criterion - everything else is just judgments and assumptions.
