De Laurentis proposed a radical change in the rules of football

The president of “Napoli”, Aurelio De Laurentiis, stated that modern football rules need serious and extensive changes. In his opinion, the current football format is no longer attractive and interesting enough for the younger generation.

According to The Athletic, the club owner is promoting the idea of making the game faster, more dynamic, and more entertaining.

One of De Laurentiis’ main proposals is to reduce the duration of halves from 45 minutes to 25 minutes. In his view, this would force teams to play at a higher tempo and increase the intensity and quality of matches.

He also proposed strict measures against simulation and deliberate rule violations. According to him, players who commit such actions should be immediately removed from the field.

As another controversial idea, he suggested completely abolishing yellow and red cards and replacing them with a temporary suspension system. In this case, players could be suspended from the game for 5 or 20 minutes, similar to hockey or rugby.

“We need more show and entertainment in football. Otherwise, we may lose the fans,” De Laurentiis said.

His proposals are expected to spark widespread discussions in the football world.
