Decisive day in Yerevan: two Uzbek boxers reach for the final
On July 24, important semi-final bouts for Uzbekistan's boxers will take place at the "Yerevan Mayor Cup" international tournament in Yerevan. Samandar Olimov will face a host athlete, while Turabek Khabibullayev will step into the ring against an Iranian representative for a spot in the final.
Both bouts are expected to be challenging. However, a victory will give our representatives the opportunity to fight for the gold medal.
Samandar Olimov against the host boxer
In the -60 kg weight category, Samandar Olimov will test his strength against Armenia's Artur Bazeyan.
Fighting in front of his home crowd may give the host athlete an additional psychological advantage. Therefore, Olimov is required to be focused from the very first seconds of the fight and leave a clear impression on the judges.
This bout is scheduled to start at 14:45 Tashkent time.
Khabibullayev awaits an Iranian opponent
Turabek Khabibullayev will defend the honor of Uzbekistan in the -90 kg weight category.
His opponent will be Hadi Mohammadnejad, a representative of the Iranian boxing school. Iranian boxers are generally distinguished by their physical strength, high pressure, and uncompromising style.
The semi-final bout between Khabibullayev and Mohammadnejad is scheduled for 16:30.
