NASA is ready to launch a superheavy rocket with humans to the Moon

At the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, NASA united the Orion spacecraft with the SLS (Space Launch System) superheavy rocket. The mission, called Artemis II, aimed to bring astronauts to lunar orbit in February-April 2026.

The Orion spacecraft is a module designed for astronaut residence. It has navigation, electronics, radiation, and heat protection systems. The mission will include Reed Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch from the USA, and Jeremy Hansen from Canada.

This flight is the first human-to-Moon historic mission since Apollo 17 in 1972. For 10 days, the astronauts will orbit the Moon, and the technology on board will be tested. Landing on the Moon is planned for the next flight in 2027.
