Artificial intelligence company Anthropic is asking investors to submit applications for a new funding round within the next 48 hours. Sources say the approximately $50 billion investment round is expected to close within two weeks, TechCrunch.com reports.
The company aims to reach a $900 billion valuation. However, due to high investor demand, the final valuation could exceed this figure.
Some early investors are skipping this round. They plan to sell their shares during the initial public offering (IPO) expected later this year.
This is likely to be the company's last private funding before going public.
Earlier this month, Anthropic announced its annual revenue surpassed $30 billion. According to financial sources, the figure actually approached $40 billion.
In February, the company raised funding at a $380 billion valuation. With the new $900 billion valuation, Anthropic would surpass its main rival, OpenAI.
