Russia plans to launch 20 cm resolution satellites by 2032

The state corporation Roscosmos plans to provide Rosreestr with high-resolution space cartography data by 2032. This was announced by Rosreestr head Oleg Skufinsky at a Federation Council meeting. According to Ixbt.com reports .

Under the agreement signed between the parties, Roscosmos has committed to delivering high-resolution space imagery based on a set schedule. Skufinsky noted that while the agency currently requires images with a resolution of 1 meter or better, the primary future goal is to implement 20 cm resolution technology.

Although such high-resolution technologies exist globally, they have not yet been established in Russia. Therefore, long-term plans aim to achieve this metric by 2032. In the interim, data may be sourced not only from local specialists but also from partner countries, specifically China.

The acquired space imagery will be processed via the National Spatial Data System (NSPD) platform. This platform provides modern cartography services for all federal and regional authorities, as well as business representatives.

This project is expected to be a significant milestone in fully mapping Russian territory and systematizing remote sensing data. This will significantly simplify land resource management and monitoring processes.
