Russia to Develop 300 Million Ruble Equipment for Ceramic Substrates

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced a tender to develop domestic equipment for producing ceramic tape, essential for modern microelectronics. The project has been allocated 284.1 million rubles and is expected to be part of the electronics industry's import substitution program. The new system is intended to replace European technologies, specifically the EKO CAM-C35 system from the Slovenian company Keko Equipment. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports.

The focus is on tape casting technology, where a thin green tape is formed from a special ceramic suspension and subsequently dried. Such materials are widely used in the production of microchip packages, ceramic substrates, and multilayer electronic components. The future device must control parameters such as tape thickness, density, and width with high precision.

The project envisions a high level of automation. The system will feature functions for storing technological recipes, restricting access rights for operators and engineers, and automatically stopping the process if parameters deviate from the norm. The development process will be carried out in several stages: a prototype will be created by March 2028, and final tests will be conducted by October.

One of the main requirements is maximum localization of production. Critical components of the device, such as heating, cutting, and control units, must be manufactured in Russia. According to technical specifications, the equipment's service life is set to be at least 10 years, with a mean time between failures of at least 1000 hours.
