Honor Reveals the Price of Its Extremely Expensive, Unusual Robot Phone Camera

According to Ixbt.com, Honor has announced the official prices of components for its most unusual flagship, the Robot Phone smartphone. Some parts are exceptionally expensive: replacing just the 200-megapixel main camera costs more than $455, excluding labor. This highlights the complexity of not only the technological gadget’s exterior but also its internal architecture. Ixbt.com reports .

The innovative Honor Robot Phone was officially unveiled on August 12 this year. The version with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage costs $1,480, while the top-end model with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage is priced at $1,920. A review of the device’s repair prices shows that some components account for a significant share of the smartphone’s total cost.

Prices of Internal Components and Main Modules

According to the company, the battery is one of the most affordable components, with an official price of approximately $45. The back cover costs $55, while the display module is priced at $205. Users can also replace the screen for $145 under a special promotional price. The front camera module costs just $20, while the 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera costs $30. The 200-megapixel periscope module is priced at $130.

However, the motherboard and main camera drive repair costs up sharply. For the 12 GB and 512 GB version, the motherboard costs approximately $680, nearly half the price of the entire smartphone. The motherboard for the 16 GB and 1 TB version costs about $975. The most expensive individual module turned out to be the 200-megapixel main camera: Honor has priced it at approximately $455, equal to one-third of the base model’s price.

Unusual Design and Mechanical Stability

The main camera’s high price is explained by its distinctive design. Honor engineers used a mechanical stabilization system based on an aerospace-grade titanium alloy. According to the company, this mechanism is 65% more compact than comparable conventional gimbals. The camera is built around a large 200-megapixel sensor with a 1/1.28-inch optical format, taking mobile photography capabilities to a new level.
