Uzbekistan Transfers School Psychologist Inspectors to Ministry of Internal Affairs

In Uzbekistan, school psychologist inspectors have been transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to help identify risks and prevent juvenile crime and offenses, according to "Nova24.uz" citing Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Bekmurod Abdullaev.

Abdullaev stated that the main task of these psychologists is not to monitor student attendance but to prevent early criminal behavior among youth. Previously, school psychologist inspectors were part of the National Guard, but from March 2025, they have been transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The move is due to the limited capabilities of the National Guard in working with students. Psychologists will now cooperate with neighborhoods, district police officers, and social and legal assistance centers within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Abdullaev mentioned that these psychologists will also play a role in detecting cases where children are involved in drug distribution.

After the summer break, all inspectors underwent a 20-day training course at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Academy, where leading psychologists, university professors, and specialists from the National Agency for Social Protection conducted the sessions.

It was also reported that by the 2025/2026 school year, the number of inspectors will increase to 2000, with one inspector assigned to every five schools, working with school administrations, psychologists, and spiritual education staff.
