The Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan has announced large-scale plans to expand production capacities in order to meet the growing national demand for electricity. Currently, there are 112 power plants operating in the country with a total capacity of 24,063 MW.
According to forecasts, by the end of 2025, this figure is expected to reach 28,570 MW. Key data and planned indicators: • Current capacity: 24,063 MW (112 power plants).
• Forecast for the end of 2025: 28,570 MW. • Target capacity for 2030: 51.6 GW.
• Target capacity for 2035: 59 GW. The expansion of energy production is being achieved, in particular, through the rapid commissioning of solar and wind energy capacities.
This initiative not only serves to diversify energy sources, but also to increase the overall stability of the national energy system. Along with the increase in production capacity, both the production and consumption of electricity are rising: • Electricity production: from 59 billion kWh in 2016, it is expected to reach 85.5 billion kWh by 2025.
• Electricity consumption: from 45.7 billion kWh in 2016, consumption is forecast to reach 73.1 billion kWh in 2025. The transition to "green" energy is a systemic direction that requires the development of transport and distribution infrastructure, the introduction of flexible capacities and digital solutions.
The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that it is necessary to consistently implement investment plans, adhere to construction schedules, and consume responsibly to achieve the targeted objectives.
Uzbekistan's energy capacity will reach 51.6 GW by 2030
