The number of IE in Uzbekistan has been revealed: the largest number was recorded in Tashkent

According to the National Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2026, the number of sole proprietors (individual entrepreneurs) operating in Uzbekistan amounted to 284,440. In the regional breakdown, the highest figure was recorded in the city of Tashkent.
According to statistical data, the number of sole proprietors by region is as follows:
Tashkent city — 41,093
Samarkand region — 29,792
Fergana region — 27,186
Andijan region — 26,233
Tashkent region — 26,060
Kashkadarya region — 23,327
Namangan region — 19,908
Bukhara region — 17,401
Republic of Karakalpakstan — 17,090
Surkhandarya region — 16,710
Khorezm region — 14,198
Jizzakh region — 9,767
Syrdarya region — 8,025
Navoi region — 7,650
As can be seen, Tashkent city leads in the number of sole proprietors. Samarkand and Fergana regions follow next. The lowest figure was recorded in Navoi region.
According to experts, these numbers reflect small business activity in the regions, population density, and especially the level of development of the service sector. In simple terms, where there is more activity, there are more sole proprietors — the “pulse” of the economy is beating there.
Most importantly, these numbers indicate one thing: people are increasingly trying to start their own business and become self-employed. Now the task is to make opportunities across regions more equal: if infrastructure, services, and access to markets become easier, the figures in regions with low indicators may also grow quickly.
