Meta announces layoffs while prioritizing AI talent

Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, has announced massive layoffs next week while simultaneously accelerating hiring for AI and machine learning specialists, according to Reuters.

Layoff details:
- Starting February 5, employees in the US and several other countries will receive termination notices.
- Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands will be exempt due to local labor laws.
- In more than 10 countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa, layoffs will occur between February 11 and 18.
