The head of the Defense Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Roman Kostenko, said that the United States has stopped selling weapons to the country. However, the Ukrainian deputy and an American official denied this information. This was reported by Channel 24.
"According to the information I have, the supply of weapons that were put up for sale has been stopped. Companies that were ready to hand over these weapons are now waiting, because there is no solution," he said.
Kostenko said that the reasons for this step are still unknown, and that the supply has not completely stopped. Alexandra Ustinova, the chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Commission for Control over the Reception and Use of International Material and Technical Assistance, denied this information.
"We are going through a very difficult time right now, and we don't need to add fuel to the fire," he stressed.
The White House also responded to reports of the suspension of arms sales. US President's National Security Advisor Michael Waltz did not confirm the information. He said that the bulk of the military aid comes directly from US warehouses.
At the same time, Waltz acknowledged that there are certain delays in this process due to the need to replenish US arms reserves.
"We are running out of a lot of reserves, and there are concerns about when this will end, how much more resources will be required and what the cost will be," said Trump's adviser.
Recall that earlier US President Donald Trump allegedly told his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky that "half of the funds allocated by the United States to Ukraine are not known." In response, Zelensky noted that Ukraine and the US have "completely different numbers."
We have completely different numbers. We have everything very clear. The war cost us $320 billion. 120 billion is us, the Ukrainian people, taxpayers. 200 billion is the US and our European allies. These are weapons and ammunition. The US has given us about $67 billion in weapons and $31.5 billion in direct financial assistance to the budget, the Ukrainian leader clarified.
On February 11, the US president said that in exchange for military assistance, Ukraine had “almost agreed” to allow the US to mine valuable minerals on its territory. On February 15, it became known that the Trump administration had offered Ukraine to transfer 50 percent of the country’s rare earths to the US, but Zelensky refused to sign the document. Now the US has handed over to Ukraine a new version of the agreement on minerals.
