Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that a "provisional agreement" had been reached between Kiev and Washington on natural resources. He made this known at a press conference on February 26.
According to Zelensky, the main issues he raised during the negotiations with the American side are correctly reflected in the text of the agreement.
"The main thing for me is that we are not in debt, the agreement does not provide for a debt of 500 billion, 350 billion, or 100 billion. This would be unfair to us," Zelensky said.
He also said that the agreement does not provide for security guarantees, as Ukraine would like, but they are mentioned.
“There are not all the security guarantees that Ukraine wants, but I would like at least a proposal to be there, and at least it is included in the framework of the agreement, if I am not mistaken, in paragraph 10,” the Ukrainian president said.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian representatives had agreed on the terms of an agreement on natural resources with the administration of US President Donald Trump. According to the Financial Times, after Washington dropped its demand for $ 500 billion in revenue from the extraction of Ukrainian natural resources, Kiev agreed to sign an agreement on the joint development of mineral resources in the country, including oil and gas.
Later, the text of the agreement was published. It also mentions security guarantees: “The US government supports Ukraine’s efforts to obtain security guarantees necessary for the establishment of peace.” Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
