Israel launches airstrikes in southern Lebanon
The Israeli Air Force has launched a large-scale airstrikes in southern Lebanon. The attacks are believed to have targeted Hezbollah military targets.

More than 20 airstrikes

According to Al Manar TV, Israeli fighter jets carried out about 20 airstrikes near eight settlements in southern Lebanon. This area is home to Hezbollah targets, which have been the source of constant conflict with Israel.

According to Al Jazeera, Israel launched 15 airstrikes in 30 minutes and fired about 20-25 rockets. The Lebanese side did not provide any specific information about the casualties or damage after the attacks.

Attacks continue despite agreement between Israel and Hezbollah

On November 27, 2024, a ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah movement came into force. In January 2025, the parties agreed to extend it until February 18. However, the Israeli military continues to carry out attacks despite this agreement.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the Israeli army, in agreement with the United States, will remain in a buffer zone on the border with Lebanon for an “indefinite period.”

“There is a buffer zone on the border with Lebanon. We have received permission from the United States, we have given them a map, and we will remain there for an indefinite period,” the Israeli minister said.

Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah are escalating again. Although the ceasefire agreement is in effect, the Israeli army continues to carry out airstrikes in southern Lebanon. This could further worsen Israeli-Lebanese relations in the near future.

It is not yet known how Hezbollah will respond to these attacks. However, military analysts say that this situation could further escalate the conflict between Lebanon and Israel.
