One of the major scandals in US President Donald Trump's team has occurred. The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg "unintentionally" joined the secret Signal group and witnessed classified information being discussed in the US government.
Why did the journalist join the secret group?
The link to the secret chat on the Signal messenger was sent to Goldberg by US President's National Security Advisor Michael Waltz. The journalist, thinking it was a private message, joined the group and saw that the issue of attacking Yemen was being discussed.
The chat included Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and other high-ranking officials.
What were the discussions in the chat?
According to the journalist, the chat discussed plans for striking Yemen, the coordinates of the targets for the attack, and US economic interests.
Vice President JD Vance was skeptical of the White House's decision and said that he would "hate to bail out Europe again."

The SM profile (presumably Stephen Miller) stated that Trump had given the "green light" for the attack, but that it was necessary to receive economic benefits in return.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth revealed the exact details of the attack, and soon after, Houthi positions began to be targeted.
The journalist initially thought it was a prank, but after the attacks were carried out, the group members congratulated each other.
Goldberg's departure from the group and official relations
Goldberg left the group of his own free will after this incident, sending an official request to the White House and the Pentagon.
The National Security Council confirmed that the group really exists.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said no military information was leaked and called the journalist a “liar.”
Donald Trump said he knew nothing about it and said The Atlantic magazine would soon be closed.
Will Advisor Michael Waltz be fired?
According to Politico, Michael Waltz could be fired over the incident. At least two officials on Trump’s team believe he should resign.
It is not yet known how this scandal in the White House will affect the US government’s security standards and what measures will be taken. However, the incident has caused a huge uproar in Washington.
