Vladimir Putin sharply increases the salaries of Russian governors

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to increase the salaries and bonuses of governors. According to the document posted on the official portal of legal information, their salaries will now be equal to those of deputy prime ministers.

According to Faridaily, deputy prime ministers currently receive a monthly salary of 1.2-1.3 million rubles (after the outbreak of the war, Putin by his decree allowed officials not to declare their income, so their exact salaries are unknown).

At the same time, according to the publication's sources, the salaries of governors are "slightly" lower and amount to 150-200 thousand rubles.

"Thus, starting from 2026, the salary of regional leaders will increase at least 5-6 times. According to one of the senior federal officials, the increase will be much more significant - about 10 times.
