Against the backdrop of strained relations between Russia and the United States, diplomats of the two countries are resuming negotiations to ease tensions and normalize relations. Alexander Darchiev, Russia's ambassador to the United States, said that the two countries have reached a preliminary agreement to move consultations aimed at eliminating "triggering factors" to Moscow and Washington.
The next meeting to be held in Moscow in the near future is considered a logical continuation of the decisions made during the previous two rounds in Istanbul. "The important thing is to move forward," Darchiev said, stressing that both sides are interested in continuing dialogue, regardless of the number of conflicts.
According to the ambassador, previous consultations were held in Turkey on February 27 and April 10. The Russian delegation was personally headed by Darchiev, and the US delegation was headed by Sonata Coulter, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
At the same time, Darchiev spoke about the so-called "deep state" and "hawkish" forces in the US that are hindering this process. According to him, some forces in Congress are trying to undermine the effectiveness of the negotiations.
Thus, the next talks between the two leading foreign policy figures of Russia and the US may have a direct impact not only on relations between the two countries, but also on global security and international stability. Now the focus will be on the meeting in Moscow and its possible results. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
