The United States has decided to reduce the amount of funds allocated for the supply of weapons to Ukraine. This was announced by US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at the last meeting of the House of Representatives of Congress. According to him, a new political approach and strategic decisions are being made in Washington regarding Ukraine.
The Secretary of Defense noted that the current US presidential administration has a “completely different” approach to the Russian-Ukrainian war. “We have set a goal of pursuing a policy that takes into account the interests of both sides in order to achieve peace. This is the right decision not only for Ukraine and Russia, but also for the interests of the United States,” Hegseth said.
The United States has been the country that has provided the largest amount of military assistance to Ukraine in recent years. In particular, during the Joe Biden administration, weapons and financial assistance to Kiev were provided on a large scale. However, after Donald Trump took office, official Washington is reconsidering its decisions to continue military supplies to Ukraine.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the US government has decided to redirect a large part of the missile components intended for Ukraine to American troops in the Middle East. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed this information, stating that uncertainty remains in Kiev regarding the arrival of new military assistance from the US.
This news is causing serious concern in the international community, especially in Europe and Ukraine. The US administration explains the reduction in aid to Ukraine by the need to “find a peaceful path, taking into account all the contradictions in the world.”
According to experts, the situation on the Ukrainian front may worsen in the face of new political approaches and budget constraints. The reduction in US aid could create serious difficulties for Kiev, and at the same time open a new stage in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
