In recent years, Turkey has become one of the most popular destinations for global travelers, and by the end of 2024, it recorded historic results. According to the “World Tourism Barometer” published by the United Nations’ World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Turkey ranked 4th among the countries that received the most tourists worldwide.
Throughout 2024, the number of foreign tourists visiting the country reached 56.7 million. With this figure, Turkey climbed one step up from 5th to 4th place compared to 2023. The total number of visitors reached 62.3 million, once again demonstrating the country's consistent and stable growth in the tourism sector.
Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, commented on this success as follows:
"Today, Turkey has become not only a country that is observed, but also one that is taken as an example in tourism. These results are the outcome of the effective promotion of our historical and cultural heritage, our modern infrastructure, and the development of diverse tourism options suitable for all seasons."
The top five countries hosting the most tourists in the world include France, Spain, the USA, Turkey, and Italy— all leading names in global tourism. This clearly shows Turkey’s growing prestige on the international tourism stage.
The country’s rich history, invaluable cultural monuments, scenic coastlines, opportunities for gastronomic tourism, and traditions of hospitality make Turkey a compelling destination for people of all nations and cultures.
Such major achievements in the tourism industry undoubtedly contribute positively not only to economic growth but also to the country’s overall image. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
