US President Donald Trump has categorically stated that he has no intention of meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping or seeking an opportunity for such a meeting. According to The Hill, Trump called the rumors on this topic “fake” and openly expressed his position on social media.
He emphasized that some sources claimed he was seeking a meeting with Xi Jinping, but the president made it clear that he had no such plans. “I am not seeking any meeting,” he wrote on Truth Social. However, Trump did not rule out a possible visit — only if the invitation comes from Xi Jinping, he would consider it.
This week, according to The Hill, key trade negotiations between the US and China are being held in Stockholm, attended by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. These talks have further fueled questions about potential tariff agreements between the two countries in the near future.
At the same time, reports emerged that Xi Jinping is planning to host a major event in September with Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. According to The Times, the Chinese leader is set to invite the US president to an official ceremony dedicated to the end of World War II. Putin is also expected to attend this event.
In a July 22 interview with journalists, Trump confirmed that he had received an official invitation to China and would consider the possibility of a visit in the future. “We were invited to China, and most likely, we will go. It’s not that soon, but not very far away either. We have received many invitations from different leaders, and we will make relevant decisions soon,” he said.
Experts and political observers are keenly watching Trump’s next diplomatic steps and how US-China relations may evolve. For now, it remains unclear what outcomes this trip and potential meetings will bring to the political scene.
