Heavy rain and flooding in India kill 60 people
In India’s Kashmir region, heavy rainfall has caused floods and landslides, killing at least 60 people and leaving more than 200 missing.

According to witnesses, after a loud noise, a large flow of water and mud rushed into the village. Some were swept into the Chenab River, while others were trapped under fallen rocks and mud. Rescuers continue search operations in designated areas using ropes and temporary bridges.

Authorities report that in addition to the dead, over 100 people have been injured. As the region is mountainous, such natural disasters occur frequently, but scientists note that climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of such events.

This incident occurred just over a week after a similar flood and landslide in Uttarakhand state, which washed away an entire village. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that in recent days, many natural disasters have occurred in the country.

Meanwhile, in Nepal and Pakistan, heavy rain, floods, and landslides have also caused numerous casualties. In Nepal, 41 people have died, while in Pakistan, more than 50 people died in one night in rain-related incidents.
