Putin will seek a key agreement on the war in Ukraine during his visit to China

The next visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China has become the focus of international politics. As noted by The Guardian, this time it will be aimed at coordinating the positions of Moscow and Beijing on the conflict in Ukraine, behind Washington's actions to cease hostilities.
According to reports, Putin will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit as part of his weekly visit, hold important talks with Xi Jinping, and participate in a military parade in Beijing dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Japan's defeat in World War II. Putin is expected to attend this ceremony as a key guest alongside North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, as well as the presidents of Iran and Cuba.
According to political analysts, the central theme of the Putin-Xi meeting will be precisely defining a common position on Ukraine. The Kremlin is said to be counting on post-Beijing assistance. At the same time, if the US demands a ceasefire from Moscow, the question of China's reaction will also be at the center of discussion.
China became Russia's economic support during the war. In this regard, it is expected that the leaders of the two countries will also consider issues of economic cooperation on a large scale. In particular, the long-discussed project of the "Sila Sibiri-2" gas pipeline, as well as plans to expand oil connections, will be included on the agenda of the negotiations.
Journalists suggest that the meeting could also influence cooperation in the military sphere. Although China officially stated that it does not provide direct military aid to Russia, US sources reported that Beijing supplied Russia with approximately 70% of the equipment and 90% of the semiconductors necessary for the restoration of the military industry. In return, there are opinions that China is receiving information from Russia on high-tech defense developments.
The visit is also symbolic. Putin is expected to sit shoulder to shoulder with Xi Jinping during a military parade in Beijing on September 3rd. This is a peculiar reflection of the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9, when the Chinese leader, as an honorary guest, walked along Red Square with the Russian military.
Thus, Putin's visit could elevate Russian-Chinese relations to a new level not only in the political, but also in the economic and military spheres. Decisions made during the negotiations are likely to have a serious impact on the further course of the war in Ukraine.
