US President Donald Trump openly acknowledged the possibility of additional measures against Moscow by Washington if dialogue and cooperation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on ending the war in Ukraine are not continued.
This statement was made on September 3rd after a bilateral meeting with Polish President Karol Navrotsky in the Oval Office. Excerpts from the President's speech were published on the official page of the White House on the X social network.
"Putin knows my position very well, and he still has to make a decision," Trump said. - Regardless of the decision, we will either accept it or reject it. If we refuse, you will soon see the result," he explained.
However, Trump specifically noted that no specific appeal or demand has yet been made to his Russian counterpart.
One of the press representatives asked the US president whether any harsh measures had been taken against Moscow since he assumed office.
"You do not take into account the secondary sanctions imposed against India. Through this, Russia lost hundreds of billions of dollars. Do you still call this inaction? I haven't advanced to the second and third stages yet," Trump responded.
It should be recalled that the day before, Trump once again emphasized his "disappointment" with the Russian leader, but did not disclose the exact cause of this discontent.Earlier, at a White House briefing, Trump said: if there is no progress in the conflict in Ukraine, the US may "choose a different direction."
