Former President Atambayev's family was forcibly evicted from their home in Qoytosh

Members of the family of former Kyrgyz leader Almazbek Atambayev were forcibly evicted from their apartment in the village of Koytash. This was reported by the Interfax agency.

According to the former president's daughter, Aliya Shagiyeva, some in police uniforms and others in civilian clothes entered the house and broke down the door. None of them submitted an official document.

The State Property Management Agency of Kyrgyzstan explained that the land where Atambayev's house is located in Koytash was returned as state property based on a court decision. The khokimiyat plans to build a nursing home and a kindergarten in this area.

As a reminder, on June 3rd of this year, the Pervomaysk District Court of Bishkek sentenced Almazbek Atambayev in absentia to 11 years and 6 months of imprisonment, and his property was confiscated.

Several serious charges were brought against the former president: corruption, organizing mass riots, and illegal appropriation of land plots in the village of Koytash, which were confirmed by the court.

Thus, the house where the Atambayev family lived was transferred to state ownership and will now serve for the construction of new socially significant structures.
