The Federal Government of Germany has drastically complicated the procedures for issuing both national and Schengen visas to Russian citizens.
This was reported to RTVI by the press service of the German diplomatic mission in Moscow.
The diplomatic mission noted that security threats to the European Union have significantly increased due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Therefore, the federal government was forced to tighten visa regulations for Russian citizens.
According to the embassy, the new rules will affect not only national visas, but also Schengen visas in accordance with the EU directive. Russian applicants, whose purpose of travel is not serious and well-founded, should be prepared for a longer and more thorough procedure when considering their applications.
Through this procedure, the German government aims to ensure stability within the European Union by strengthening security in visa issuance and rigorously and theoretically analyzing applications.
Now arrivals from Russia will be required to prepare more thoroughly for traveling in Germany and submit all necessary documents in full and correctly when submitting their applications.
