Two flying electric vehicles belonging to Xpeng Aeroht, a well-known Chinese startup, collided head-on in the air on September 16th. CNN news agency reported this.
According to reports, the incident occurred during an air show exercise in Changchun. According to preliminary investigations, one of the aircraft came too close to the other, resulting in a collision.
During the vertical landing, one of the vehicles was completely engulfed in flames. Interestingly, the incident is described as a "21st-century road accident." Fortunately, no one was seriously injured during the incident.
Company officials have currently launched a special investigation to determine the causes of the collision.
This situation became a serious test for Xpeng Aeroht. Because the company had put forward a plan for large-scale production of flying electric vehicles starting from 2026. Currently, their main project - a model called "Land Aircraft Carrier" - is open for pre-order, the price of which is about 321 thousand US dollars.
Thus, the clash in Changchun raised questions not only about the safety of flying technology, but also about the future of the entire industry. Experts are closely monitoring how such situations will affect future mass production plans.
