Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that the decision of several states to recognize the State of Palestine is historic and of great significance.
Speaking in New York at a conference dedicated to the Palestinian issue, Erdogan drew attention to the grave situation in the region.
“For nearly two years, due to the increasing aggression of the Israeli government, our region has been experiencing a devastating humanitarian crisis. More than 65,000 people have lost their lives in Gaza, and the massacre has still not come to an end. No person with a conscience can turn a blind eye to these events or remain silent in the face of such policies,” he said.
According to the president, against the backdrop of circumstances preventing the realization of a Palestinian state and forcing Palestinians to flee in various ways, the recognition of Palestine by several UN Security Council member states is an extremely important and historic step.
