Love letters officially banned in North Korea

In North Korea, citizens are strictly forbidden to write letters to each other containing love confessions. Authorities condemned this practice as a “corrupt capitalist lifestyle.”

According to Metro, an incident at a factory in Hamhung city sparked widespread debate across the country. During an inspection conducted by representatives of the youth organization, a love letter was discovered. It reportedly contained phrases such as “I love you” and “I think only of you.”

Following the incident, the author of the letter was publicly denounced as “morally corrupt.” He was forced to admit his actions in front of colleagues and openly express regret.

Witnesses stated that other factory workers were also compelled to watch the process.
