Turkey is ready to stop purchasing oil from Russia, US President Donald Trump stated.
The American leader did not give a direct answer to whether Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan agreed to stop importing Russian oil. “But if I want him to stop, he will stop,” said Trump. According to him, this is possible because Russian oil can be bought from many other countries. At the same time, he noted that stopping oil deliveries from Russia would be considerably more difficult for Hungary and Slovakia.
Meanwhile, the head of the Turkish president’s communications department, Burhanuddin Duran, wrote on his Facebook page that during the negotiations between the presidents of Turkey and the US in Washington, a number of important and effective outcomes were achieved.
“The historic meeting with US President Trump at the White House took place in a very friendly atmosphere. A wide range of issues was discussed — from defense and trade to energy, regional, and global problems. Significant and tangible achievements were reached on several matters,” Duran emphasized.
