Chinese woman exposed for stealing $6.7 billion worth of bitcoin

A court in London found 47-year-old Chinese citizen Zhimin Xiang guilty of attempting to steal funds by seizing $6.7 billion worth of bitcoins and using them to purchase expensive real estate in the UK. The Scotland Yard press service released this information on its official website.

According to official data, more than 61,000 bitcoins were confiscated from the woman during the investigation. This is noted as the largest cryptocurrency confiscation in history.

Investigators found that between 2014 and 2017, Xiang deceived more than 128,000 Chinese citizens, including entrepreneurs, pensioners, bank employees, and judicial system employees, in various ways. He converted the huge funds he obtained into Bitcoin and moved to Great Britain with the help of forged documents. Here, he planned to acquire expensive housing and legalize the funds.

According to The Sun, police also found Xian's personal diary. It states that the woman saw herself as an anointed "reborn goddess" by the Dalai Lama and even dreamed of establishing a unique kingdom called "Liberland," where she would rule as a princess.

Currently, the female offender is in custody and awaits a court verdict, having confessed to her guilt. This case once again demonstrated not only the scale of financial fraud, but also the scale of crimes related to cryptocurrency.
