The head of HAMAS’s military wing, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, has rejected the ceasefire plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. He believes it is a plan to destroy HAMAS.
Trump’s 20-point plan was approved by Israel. It requires HAMAS to disarm and not take part in governing Gaza.
HAMAS is holding 48 hostages, and reports say only 20 of them are alive. According to the plan, they must be released within 72 hours, which would be a major loss for the group.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has also opposed some of the terms. The war has been ongoing since October 2023, and more than 66,000 people have been killed in Gaza.
