From Barcelona to Istanbul — the wave of support for Palestine is growing

Mass demonstrations in defense of Palestine have intensified across the world. Protests against the war in Gaza and Israel’s military operations are taking place from Europe to Asia, from America to Africa.

In Spain’s city of Barcelona, more than 300,000 people took to the streets to show their support for the Palestinian people. Local publications noted that this was one of the largest political demonstrations in the city’s history. Participants marched under slogans such as “Ceasefire!”, “Freedom for Palestine!”, and “Embargo Israel!”.

In the Italian capital Rome, more than 250,000 people joined a peaceful march. Protesters demanded that the government cut off military and trade relations with Israel. Human rights organizations, student unions, and religious representatives united at the event in central Rome.

In Asia, solidarity with Palestine is also growing. In Seoul, the capital of South Korea, thousands of citizens protested against Israel’s operations in Gaza. They called for an increase in humanitarian aid and demanded an immediate end to the war in which children are dying.

In Canada, thousands of people gathered on the streets of Ottawa and Toronto, calling the tragedy in Gaza a “crime against humanity.” Protesters accused international organizations of inaction and urged them to take a fair stance.

In Morocco, tens of thousands of citizens supported the global flotilla initiative called “Sumud.” They demanded the opening of a humanitarian corridor for the people of Gaza and called for justice.

In Turkey, public activity was also high — in Istanbul, thousands of people joined a major march from Hagia Sophia to Eminönü Square. Carrying Palestinian flags and chanting “Freedom for Gaza!”, they condemned the war and stressed the need for unity in the Muslim world.

At the United Nations, the Palestinian issue once again became the main topic. Several countries strongly condemned the situation in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire. Although the European Union has not yet formed a unified position, countries such as Germany and Ireland have raised the issue of limiting military assistance to Israel.

The United States, traditionally supporting Israel, faced harsh criticism from the international community. Washington’s stance has sparked discontent not only in the Arab world but also among Western nations.

Turkey, South Africa, and several Latin American countries have openly defended Palestine. They stated that Israel’s military actions in Gaza violate human rights and called for stronger pressure on Israel.

As millions of people around the world take to the streets for peace and justice for Palestine, the protests once again remind humanity that war brings only suffering and loss.
