Saudi Arabia introduces new medical rules for Hajj 2026

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia has implemented new requirements and regulations for the 2026 Hajj season, according to the Hajj and Umrah Center of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan.

According to the information, from now on, every pilgrim will receive a Hajj visa only after presenting an official medical certificate of good health obtained through the “Nusuk” platform.

This measure, introduced at the initiative of the Saudi Ministry of Health, aims to provide additional guarantees for the safety and well-being of pilgrims. From now on, the ministries and organizations responsible for Hajj and Umrah must conduct a thorough medical examination of each applicant and determine their physical capability to perform the pilgrimage.

The official statement notes that these requirements are intended not only to prevent the spread of diseases but also to eliminate conditions that could endanger human life during the pilgrimage. Through this initiative, the Saudi government seeks to strengthen discipline and responsibility in organizing Hajj.

The document emphasizes that individuals who fail to undergo a medical examination or do not provide the necessary certificate will not be issued a visa. This represents a major change compared to previous years when medical checks were mostly advisory.

It has been announced that individuals with serious health conditions will not be permitted to undertake Hajj. These include patients with kidney failure requiring dialysis, heart failure evident even under minimal exertion, chronic lung diseases, severe liver cirrhosis, mental or neurological disorders, senile dementia, and women in the final stages of pregnancy.

Additionally, people suffering from active infectious diseases — such as open tuberculosis or hemorrhagic fevers — as well as cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or other treatments that suppress immunity, will also be barred from Hajj.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated that any violation of these requirements or the submission of false information will result in appropriate measures. This policy is aimed at increasing personal responsibility among pilgrims and ensuring overall safety and order.

Experts believe that the new system will help protect the health of pilgrims and prevent the spread of infectious diseases during Hajj and Umrah. Thus, the 2026 Hajj season is expected to be more organized and secure.
