75 million-year-old dinosaur remains found in Karakalpakstan

A discovery of great importance for scientists was made in the territory of Karakalpakstan. According to the State Geological Museum, bones belonging to a dinosaur that lived approximately 75 million years ago were found in foothill areas near Nukus. This was reported by the press service of the State Museum.

On October 12, the director of the museum visited the city of Nukus and personally inspected the search areas located in the foothill part of the Khojakul mountain range of the Sultan Uvays mountain range. During the research conducted there by the staff of the Karakalpak expedition of the joint-stock company "Uzbek geological exploration," ancient fossilized bones were discovered.

During geological research, it was determined that these bones, estimated to belong to the Cretaceous period, date back to life approximately 65-75 million years ago. During excavation at a depth of 3 meters, the searchers found bones of the spine, leg, and ribs, which may have belonged to a large creature. Experts emphasize that such a finding has great scientific significance for the paleontological history of Karakalpakstan.

It should be noted that such discoveries not only provide information about the ancient natural history of the region, but also show that various types of large animals once inhabited this area. Geologists plan to conduct further research at this site and conduct research in laboratory conditions for accurate analysis of the findings.

Previously, important archaeological finds related to ancient history were recorded in other regions of the country. In particular, new finds were discovered at the Koktanli Neolithic site, located in the Northern Nuratau Mountains. Numerous rock paintings painted with yellowish-red natural mineral paints have been found in this area, including human handprints and human figures.

According to experts, these paintings and rock inscriptions may be directly related to the cultural layers of the Koktanli Neolithic site. That is, it is possible that these findings will provide new information about the life of people in the past, their relationship with nature, and their worldview.

The dinosaur bones found in Karakalpakstan indicate the presence of previously unknown biological species in the territory of Uzbekistan. This opens up new research directions for geologists and paleontologists. In the coming months, it is expected that the bones found will be fully studied, and accurate information about the species level and period will be published.

Scientists consider this discovery a national scientific achievement, since such discoveries will give impetus to a revision not only of the geology of the country, but also of the history of Central Asia as a whole.
