Those who spied for Russia in Poland have been detained

Another spying scandal erupted in Poland. As a result of a large-scale investigation conducted by the country's Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) and the Internal Security Agency (ABW), two Ukrainian citizens were detained. According to official data, they operated in the interests of foreign special services, Polskie Radio reported.

According to ABW spokesperson Yatsek Dobzhinsky, a man and a woman aged 32 and 34 performed reconnaissance missions. They are tasked with collecting information about Poland's military capabilities, as well as installing special devices for covert surveillance of strategically important infrastructure.

The official statement said that the information they collected was related to the military base and logistics system in Poland. In particular, information about transport routes and infrastructure involved in sending military aid to Ukraine was among them.

So far, it has not been disclosed which state's special services the suspects worked for. However, according to local analysts, there is a high probability that this activity is connected with the Russian intelligence system.

According to the official statement of ABW, the operation was carried out on October 14 in Katowice, Poland. The next day, both individuals were brought to the prosecutor's office, and they were officially charged. The court ordered their detention for three months.

This is not the first such case in Poland recently. A week ago, Prime Minister Donald Tusk also announced the arrest of eight people suspected of preparing sabotage in the country. Among them was a Ukrainian citizen, Danilo Kh., who was allegedly in contact with Russian intelligence.

Tusk noted that in recent months, Polish security services have been taking strict measures to limit Russia's sphere of influence. Dobzhinsky confirmed this, stating that in the last few months, 55 individuals have been detained for espionage in Russia's favor.

The Polish government considers this situation a serious threat to national security. The country's authorities, in cooperation with NATO and the European Union, are developing a plan to further strengthen cybersecurity and the fight against espionage.

Thus, the fight against espionage in Poland has reached a new level. These events demonstrate that the issue of European security is becoming increasingly urgent against the backdrop of tense relations between Russia and the West.
