US President Donald Trump praised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, calling him a "great leader with a very strong army."
These opinions were expressed during interviews with journalists, which were broadcast on the official social media pages of the White House.
Speaking about the situation in Syria, Trump emphasized Turkey's influence on the region:
"President Erdoğan is a great leader, he has a great influence on the events in Syria," the US leader said.
At the same time, Trump stated that Washington supports Ankara's active participation in the processes in Syria.
During the conversation, he also noted that during his presidency, he "had ended eight wars and will soon end the ninth."
Trump's statement once again demonstrated Turkey's military capabilities and Erdoğan's influence in the international arena.
