WHO has launched a plan to vaccinate 40,000 children in Gaza

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced plans to vaccinate more than 40,000 children against various infections, taking advantage of the short-term truce in the Gaza Strip. According to Al Arabiya, in just eight days of the vaccination process, which began on November 9, more than 10,000 children under three received the first dose.

WHO Director-General Tadros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that children will be vaccinated against measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B, tuberculosis, rotavirus, polio, and pneumonia by November 22nd. The work is being carried out in cooperation with UNICEF, UNRWA, and the Ministry of Health of Gaza. The next stages are scheduled for December and January.

Ghebreyesus noted that the truce is providing significant assistance to international organizations in strengthening medical assistance and restoring the destroyed healthcare infrastructure in Gaza.

For information, the UN Security Council approved US President Donald Trump's Gaza Strip plan on November 17th. It is reported that more than 69,500 Palestinians have died as a result of the ongoing hostilities since October 7, 2023, many of whom are women and children.
