The Persian Gulf is on fire: Iran attacked tankers

The situation in the region is getting worse by the hour: a large oil tanker was targeted in the Persian Gulf, a number of countries are enduring missile attacks.
The military operations in the Middle East have entered a new, more dangerous phase. According to urgent information provided by the Maritime Trade Coordination Center (UKMTO) under the British Navy, an unidentified projectile hit a large tanker off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, just 57 kilometers from Dubai. Kuwait's KUNA news agency confirmed that it was the Al-Salmi tanker, which belongs to its country.
Drone attack and environmental threat
According to reports, the strike by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) hit the starboard side of the fully loaded ship at anchor. The hull of the giant tanker, which has a maximum capacity of about 320,000 tons of crude oil, was damaged. Although Dubai officials said that the fire was extinguished and the crew members were safe, the risk of a huge oil spill still remains.
Morning excitement: Sirens and downed missiles
This night was extremely disturbing not only at sea, but also on land:
- In Dubai: Fragments of a missile destroyed by air defense systems fell on an abandoned building in the Al-Bada district, causing a fire and slightly injuring four people.
- In Saudi Arabia: 8 ballistic missiles that entered the country's airspace were successfully destroyed. Two shells also landed near a container ship near the port of Ras Tanura.
- In Bahrain and Kuwait: Night sirens warning of enemy attacks sounded, and defense forces were put on alert.
An unending chain of confrontation
As a reminder, since the end of February, the US and Israeli alliances have been carrying out continuous air strikes on Iranian territory. As a result, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and a number of high-ranking military personnel were killed. In response, official Tehran is increasing attacks on Arab countries and their economic infrastructure, including oil facilities, claiming that it targeted US military bases in the region. This intense war is not without its effects even on countries such as Azerbaijan and Cyprus.
Dear readers, how do you think such tension in the Persian Gulf will affect world oil prices? Is it possible to extinguish the war in the region?
