North Korea responds to South Korea's apology

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has responded positively to South Korean President Lee Jae-myong's apology for the drones that crossed the country's border. According to Kim Yo-jong, deputy director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Jong-un has accepted the apology.

The North Korean government has properly and timely considered the apology of the South Korean president and the measures taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. Kim Yo-jong said that the North Korean leader appreciates Lee Jae-myong's actions and pays attention to the sincere thoughts of an honest, generous person.

Kim Jong-un's response came a day after the South Korean president apologized. This change, among other things, indicates that the South Korean government is seeking to maintain a balance in interstate relations to help North Korea resolve the drone case.

In connection with the above events, South Korean prosecutors have indicted three people accused of flying drones across the border with North Korea between September 2025 and January 2026. The defendants include a 30-year-old graduate student, a National Intelligence Service officer, and a military officer.
