French court opens case against Saudi Crown Prince

A new judicial investigation has been launched in France against Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This decision was made by the Paris Court of Appeal.

This was reported by AFP.

The investigation is related to the events surrounding the 2018 murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul. Reports indicate the case is being reviewed based on complaints of torture and enforced disappearance.

It is known that Jamal Khashoggi entered the Saudi Arabian Consulate General in Istanbul on October 2, 2018, and subsequently went missing. The Turkish side stated that he was murdered and his body was disposed of.

Previously, the French prosecutor's office had approached this case with caution. However, following the court's decision, an official investigation process has now been initiated.

Recall that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, as well as U.S. National Intelligence in their report, indicated that Mohammed bin Salman may have approved the operation to capture or kill the journalist. This event caused a major international resonance at the time.
