29-toed cat sets world record

A Maine Coon kitten named Erebus Anomaly from Wisconsin, USA, with 29 toes has entered the Guinness World Records.

Normal cats have a total of 18 toes. Erebus, however, has 8 toes on one paw and 7 on each of the other three. This condition polydactyly is related to a hereditary trait called.

With this result, Erebus broke the 28-toed record that had stood since 2002. Interestingly, his father also had 24 toes.
