
In the United Kingdom, the company Vertical Aerospace conducted the first open-sky test flight of its flying taxi VX4, Auto.mail.ru reported.
The electric prototype VX4 is capable of vertical take-off and landing. The test flight took place over the Cotswolds region in southwest England, using the runway of a local airport.
In February, Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit stated that he supports the introduction of air taxis above Russian cities. He emphasized that the ministry is working to make such aerial technology accessible and convenient for citizens.
Maxim Kalyagin, chief designer at the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Center of the Aeromobility Directorate at the Moscow Aviation Institute, highlighted that air taxis will initially operate between airports.
According to him:
• Air taxis should be launched primarily on beneficial routes.
• For example, flights between airports.
• Using a multimodal model could significantly reduce flight costs.
