Chevrolet Equinox 2027 reaches a new level

Chevrolet is preparing a useful update for the 2027 Equinox that will matter most to drivers who occasionally pull a trailer. The compact crossover’s front-wheel-drive versions are set to see their towing capacity rise from 360 kg to 680 kg, giving owners far more flexibility for small trailers, outdoor gear, and other light cargo. Reports Speedme.ru.
In the 2025 and 2026 model years, front-wheel-drive Equinox models were limited to 360 kg, which was enough for bikes or very small trailers but not much more. The higher figure for the 2027 version comes from a major mechanical change: General Motors is replacing the CVT in front-wheel-drive trims with the same eight-speed automatic transmission already used in all-wheel-drive versions.
The switch is expected to improve pulling ability and help the vehicle manage extra load more confidently without sacrificing everyday comfort. Chevrolet is not changing the engine, however. The 2027 Equinox will continue to use a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 175 horsepower, a setup already known across the lineup.
Production of the 2027 Chevrolet Equinox is expected to begin later this year. The update may look modest on paper, but for buyers who need occasional towing without moving up to a larger SUV, it could make the new Equinox a much more practical choice.
