Cobalt and Damas sales declined

Car dealers in Uzbekistan sold 57,512 vehicles in January and February 2026, up 14.1% from the same period a year earlier, according to data from Uzavtosanoat. The strongest growth came from electric vehicles, with demand shifting away from some traditional bestsellers toward imported EVs, hybrids and crossovers. Reports Kun.uz.

Sales of UzAuto Motors’ most popular models, Cobalt and Damas, declined during the two-month period. Demand also dropped for Chevrolet’s premium models, including Malibu, Captiva, Equinox and Traverse. Out of 10 UzAuto Motors models on the market, only four posted growth: Tracker, Onix, Labo and Tahoe. As a result, the company’s market share fell from 82.4% to 79.3% year on year.

The sharpest increase was recorded by BYD’s Yuan Up, whose sales jumped more than sixfold. BYD also expanded its overall market share from 5.7% to 8%, while sales rose from 2,862 to 4,621 units. ADM Jizzakh, which supplies Kia, Chery and Haval vehicles, increased its share from 11.4% to 12.5%, with sales climbing from 5,762 to 7,202 units.

Among non-Chevrolet models, the Kia Sonet was the top seller, although demand for more expensive Kia cars weakened. The latest figures suggest Uzbekistan’s car market is becoming more competitive as buyers gain more choice and show growing interest in newer vehicle segments.
