BMW Z4 roadster production discontinued

BMW has officially ended production of the Z4 roadster, the G29 generation. The final vehicle rolled off the assembly line at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria. No direct successor is planned for this model, which has been in production since 2018. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
The BMW Z4 is technically closely related to the Toyota Supra A90, with both vehicles assembled at the same plant. The future of the Japanese sports car remains uncertain, although Toyota has expressed its intention to keep the Supra name.
Sales figures for the model have declined over the years. For example, while 15,800 units were sold in 2019, this figure dropped to 9,700 by 2025. Nevertheless, shortly before the end of production, sales grew by nearly 5 percent in the first quarter of 2026.
With the Z4 discontinued, only the 4 Series Convertible (G23) remains as an open-top vehicle in the BMW lineup. The company had previously dropped the open version of the 8 Series. The possibility of an electric convertible based on the BMW i4 in the future cannot be ruled out.
