A New Milestone in the World of EVs: The 1169 HP Mercedes-AMG GT

Despite having well over 1000 horsepower, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé prototype initially feels remarkably composed. With the stability control in Sport mode, this large and fast electric sedan moves with poise and restraint. The strong front-end grip and precise electronic control quickly instill confidence in the driver. Tests conducted at the ATP proving ground in Papenburg showed that immense potential lies behind this composure. This is reported by Autocar.co.uk .
AMG announced its intention in 2022 to replace its four-door model with a fully electric successor. Since then, the GT XX engineering prototype has proven not only high dynamics but also durability: it covered nearly 40,000 kilometers in just over seven days at an average speed of over 300 km/h. In Sport+ mode, the car's character changes, shifting from mass-focused to precise system control.
By selecting Race mode and activating the AMG Race Engineer function via the three rotary dials on the center console, the car undergoes a complete transformation. Throttle sensitivity increases, the rear axle activates, and all restrictions vanish. The driver is given the ability to configure a total of 729 different combinations for feedback, agility, and traction. Thanks to a low center of gravity and a perfectly tuned suspension, this crossover-sized sedan remains extremely stable in corners.
The second-generation (C590) GT 4-Door Coupé marks a new era for the brand. It is the first model developed from scratch on the AMG.EA platform. Its power is based on three axial-flux electric motors: two at the rear and one at the front. Created in collaboration with the British firm Yasa, these compact motors are lighter and more powerful than traditional units. The 4Matic+ system distributes traction between the axles in a fully variable manner.
