How the new Hyrule Warriors entry came to be revealed

Details of the creative process behind Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment have been revealed. Project producers Yosuke Hayashi and Ryota Matsushita told Japanese media that, unexpectedly, the initiative came not from Nintendo but from Koei Tecmo. This was reported by playground.ru reports .
In an interview with 4Gamer, Hayashi said that after Tears of the Kingdom launched, the game itself felt as if it was urging them to create a Warriors-style spin-off set during the “Imprisoning War” era. He immediately shared the idea with Matsushita; they agreed—“Let’s do it!”—and quickly put the plan down on paper.
Matsushita added that the “seeds” for a Warriors title were already scattered across various elements, and that he had refined some ideas in advance. The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed that Nintendo closely monitored the process, but suggested waiting to see Koei Tecmo’s stance first. In the end, the studio itself reached out and kicked off the project.
As a result, Age of Imprisonment took shape as a project that blends Nintendo’s team concepts with Koei Tecmo’s initiative: Zelda’s rich world is paired with the fast-paced battles typical of the Warriors series. Players can expect familiar combat mechanics and a new story tied to the events of the Imprisoning War.
